Welcome to Renaissance Elementary School; we are charging into the 2024-2025 school year!
As the new principal of this incredible community, I am honored and excited to join the team at Renaissance Elementary. With many years of experience in education, I am eager to bring my passion for fostering student growth and achievement to our school.
Our theme this year is E.L.E.V.A.T.E.—taking our school to new heights of excellence. As we embrace the spirit of our Royal Rhino mascot, we will strive to elevate our academic standards, enrich our extracurricular programs, and create an environment where every student can thrive.
We will continue to find ways to enhance our student's educational experiences to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education. We are committed to implementing evidence-based teaching strategies and providing professional development for our teachers. We aim to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences that empower all students to achieve their full potential and adapt to a changing world.
This year, we will focus on improving student attendance. We will be implementing new initiatives to encourage attendance.
Community collaboration and parent engagement will be at the heart of our efforts. By working together—teachers, parents, students, and community members—we can create a supportive and inspiring atmosphere where our students can excel academically and personally.
I look forward to meeting each of you and hearing your ideas on how to make Renaissance E.S. an award-winning place for learning and growth. Together, let's make this school year one of our best yet.
Thank you for your warm welcome, and here's to a fantastic year ahead!
Sincerely,
Shawanna Arnold

Assistant Principal Davetta Cannon
Dear Renaissance Royals,
My name is Davetta Cannon, and I am both honored and excited to move from 3rd-5th Grade Literacy School Improvement Coach to serving as your Assistant Principal. I have been in education for 21 years, seven of those have been here at Renaissance Elementary. With my experience and years of service in education, I am no stranger to the hard work that students, teachers, and parents exhibit each day to maintain academic excellence. This is especially true for our Renaissance Royals.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University, and a Specialist Degree in Teaching and Learning from Argosy University. I have experience teaching Pre-K, 1st, 3rd and 4th grades, and I am passionate about making sure students’ needs and interests are fostered to encourage them to be life-long learners. I truly believe all students deserve a quality and equitable educational experience and am committed to working toward that each year. I look forward to partnering with staff, students, families, and the greater Renaissance community as we work together to achieve this goal!
Educationally yours,
Ms. Cannon
